Database Services
Database design, migration, optimization, and administration for the systems your business depends on.
Almost every system your business runs on sits on a database. Your accounting package, your CRM, your line-of-business application. Each one is reading and writing to a database somewhere. Most days nobody thinks about it. Then a report that used to take two seconds takes four minutes, or a migration goes sideways, or the system locks up in the middle of a workday, and suddenly it's the only thing anyone can think about.
Nexus provides database design, migration, and administration services to businesses across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. We work on the databases behind the software your company depends on.
Database design, migration, and performance tuning
Design and architecture. If you're building or replacing an application, the database structure decides what it can do later. We design schemas that fit how your business actually works, with room to grow into.
Migration. Moving from an aging server, consolidating databases after an acquisition, or shifting to a hosted platform. We plan the cutover, test it, and run it during a window that doesn't cost you a workday.
Performance tuning. Slow queries, lock contention, indexes that were right three years ago and aren't now. We find where the time is going and fix it, rather than throwing hardware at it and hoping.
Administration and maintenance. Permissions that make sense, patching that happens on a schedule, monitoring that tells someone before you find out from a user, and backup and recovery that's actually configured.
When New Jersey businesses call us
An application is slow and the vendor says the database is the problem
A server is going end-of-life and the database has to move
Two systems need to share data and nobody knows how to connect them
The person who built it left, and nobody has touched it since
A report or integration that used to work has quietly stopped
How database projects are scoped and billed
Database work is project work. We look at what you have, tell you what we think it needs, and put it in a written scope with what's included, what isn't, and what it costs. Nothing starts until you've approved it. If a problem turns out to be simpler than expected, we say so.
Ongoing database administration can also be handled alongside a managed service agreement, quoted separately from your per-user tier.
Who does the work
The same engineers, every time. Database problems are rarely solved in one sitting, so there's real value in someone who already knows your schema, your indexes, and why that one table is shaped the way it is. That knowledge compounds over the life of the relationship.
