Most businesses don't need custom software. They need the systems they already own to talk to each other, or they need one process that eats an afternoon every week to stop doing that. Sometimes the answer is a script. Sometimes it's an integration. Once in a while it really is an application that doesn't exist yet.

Nexus builds custom applications, integrations, and process automation for businesses across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. We'll tell you which one you're actually looking at before anyone writes code.

Custom applications, integrations, and process automation

Integrations. Getting your CRM, your accounting system, and your line-of-business application to share data instead of being reconciled by hand. Most of what looks like a software problem turns out to be two systems that were never introduced.

Process automation. The recurring work that runs on someone remembering to do it: onboarding a new employee, generating a report, moving a file, updating a record in three places. We build it once so it runs without anyone watching.

Custom applications. When the off-the-shelf option genuinely doesn't fit, we build the thing that does. Scoped tightly, built around how your business actually works, and documented well enough that someone other than us could pick it up.

Maintaining what's already there. Inherited code with no documentation, an integration that broke when a vendor changed their API, a tool the person who wrote it took with them when they left. We can take it over.

When New Jersey businesses call us

  • The same data gets typed into two systems every day

  • A vendor's software almost does what you need, and the gap is costing hours

  • An integration broke and nobody knows why

  • A process only one person knows how to run

  • You've been quoted for a custom build and want a second opinion on whether you need it

How software projects are scoped and billed

Software is project work. We start by understanding the problem rather than the requested solution, because the two are different more often than not. You get a written scope with what's included, what isn't, and what it costs. Nothing starts until you've approved it.

We'll also be straight with you about the part most people skip. Custom software is a commitment, not a purchase. Anything we build needs somewhere to run, someone to patch it, and someone to fix it when a dependency changes underneath it. Hosting and ongoing maintenance can sit alongside your managed IT or cloud services, quoted separately. And if the honest answer is that an off-the-shelf product will serve you better, we say so.

Who does the work

The same engineers, every time. Nobody hands your codebase to whoever is free that week. That matters more with software than almost anything else, because the person who understands why a decision was made is the person who can change it safely two years later.
