What HIPAA actually asks of your IT

In plain terms, that means access to patient data is controlled and logged, devices and email are secured, information is encrypted where it should be, and you can recover records if something fails. Our HIPAA compliance service builds and manages your environment so those safeguards are in place and stay in place, and we document what we do so you have something to show during an audit or a security review.

We are not a certifying body, and no vendor can make a practice "HIPAA certified," because that certification does not exist. What we do is put the technical controls behind your compliance program so the IT side holds up.

How we protect patient data

Protected health information sits in your EHR, in email, in scanned documents, and on the laptops and workstations your team uses every day. We back all of it up on a 3-2-1 model with an offsite, immutable copy, so a ransomware attack cannot encrypt your only copy. Backups are monitored daily and we confirm they complete. Microsoft 365 is backed up separately, because Microsoft does not retain your mailboxes and files the way most practices assume. We also work within the FTC Safeguards framework where it applies, and we are putting formal Business Associate Agreement coverage in place. If your practice requires a BAA, talk to us about your requirements and we will tell you exactly where that stands.
